About
Hi! My name is Jason Wexler and this is my project (and now label!), The Chillest.
Since I was a little kid, I was raised in a house full of music. My father was a self taught guitarist, and instilled a love for music in me from an early age. I started taking piano lessons at the age of 4, and with the support of my parents, I earned my bachelor’s of music in jazz piano from Rutgers University.
Growing up in NYC, there were a lot of opportunities to see amazing music, perform with school bands, and even perform with a band my friends and I put together just for fun in high school.
High school is also where I met my wife, Amanda, and we’ve been married since 2009!
Since then I’ve spent most of my time performing. I've performed with artists like Stolar, Troye Sivan, Stephen Kellogg, and many more, both locally in NYC, and on tours and festivals around the world. I was even a member of the house band for Katie Couric's show, "Katie" on ABC.
In December of 2017, my wife and I had our second son. He was a very fussy baby. For the first six months, anytime he was awake, he was crying. We tried everything to help soothe him, but nothing worked. That's when I realized the impact that calm music could have on him, and also on us. (We were pretty stressed too, as you can imagine!)
I searched for calm instrumental covers of familiar songs, but everything I found was either too ambient or too dynamic. That's when I realized...I knew exactly what the music I was looking for should sound like! As a piano player, I knew I could record what I was hearing in my head, so I got to work.
And here we are! I now have over 20 albums of covers (and a handful of originals) ranging from The Beatles to Taylor Swift to The Backstreet Boys, and everything in between. And my songs have been streamed over 10 million times!
When people ask what my music sounds like, I describe it as a "warm blanket". It's songs you already know, so it brings a sense of familiarity and nostalgia, while creating the chillest, most relaxing atmosphere possible.
I hope my music brings the same peace to you that it's brought to our family. (You’re part of our family now too!)
